The week in review

I posted this on Facebook on Friday:
I'm so thankful for the little things. When a friend anonymously paid to have Tim's apartment cleaned, I was grateful to have one thing taken off my plate. Then we met the lady doing the cleaning--she just moved here from NJ where she had been a caretaker for an Alzheimer's patient. God is good. All the time. And more...1. Tim has discovered that he enjoys reading the nonfiction books from the children's section, like Eyewitness books, especially the ones about events in his lifetime.  2. Ben made the first shot in his basketball game last night. The smile on his face is worth all the driving we've been doing.
3. Maggie has found an unofficial job cleaning stalls at a local horse farm in exchange for time riding and lessons.
The hard stuff is hard, but I have to keep finding the good among the hard.

Today brought a few more things to be thankful for.

1. Tim handed me two coats he didn't want anymore instead of cutting them up like he did a few months ago.  He says he doesn't wear them.  One is the coat he wore all last fall and even a couple warmer days this month.  But, at least I can keep them here until he wonders where they went.

2. Today we went grocery shopping.  He did okay.  Yes, he did try to take my groceries off the belt instead of putting his on.  And he did try to push his cart full of unscanned, unpaid groceries past while I was paying for mine.  But, we survived.  (Never mind that I walked out and left my bag at the checkout because I was watching him.)

3.  He asked me to reprogram his radio.  He didn't throw it away.

4.  We ate at a decent hour tonight and Ray took him home right away.  Evenings are getting harder.  He wants to go to bed as it is getting dark, even if it is only 6 pm.
