God is good, all the time

Sometimes, I just have to say it, to remind myself of all the good that comes from God. Especially on days like today. It started out well. I was able to rough out my two articles for TOS before the children woke up. We were on time to co-op. As we were going in, someone gave me two pair of jeans for Nathanael, who has only one pair of pants without holes in them. I was dreading going to buy them, since it is nearly impossible to find any at Goodwill, so it would mean a bigger chunk out of the clothing budget. My classes went well and I sent home my progress reports on time. However, when we left, the van wouldn't start. At all. Just clicked. Jumping it didn't work. And my phone battery was dead. After making some calls on a borrowed phone, my husband said that some friends could help with rides and fixing the car. About that time, a student's father arrived and began to work on it for me. A can of coke and some whacks with a crowbar to the starter and it started running. He followed me back to our friends' home where the kids and I enjoyed an unexpected visit while the husbands worked on the car. Since they are living on the property of some other friends, they pooled their dinner resources and we had a wonderful meal. The children all thought this was a great adventure, cheering when they learned we were all eating together. What a joy to be part of such a group of caring friends. Someday, I hope to be the one who can bless them with help. I feel so often like I am the one taking and never giving. It is humbling to accept help. So, I'm thankful. God is good and gives us good things, things that will work toward our sanctification. We are to rejoice in trials. Was my character built today?
